A Munroist’s Log

In recent years the challenge of the ‘Munros’ has become a very popular pastime. Not so long ago this pursuit of climbing all Scotland’s three-thousand foot peaks was enjoyed by relatively few, as only a minority had the time needed to dedicate themselves to the task. Today people of all ages seek to follow in the footsteps of the first ascentionist, the Rev A.E.Robertson, who completed the round of three thousand foot mountains in Munro’s lists in 1901.

Seeking to expand their horizons some also add the mountains ‘Furth of Scotland’ to their tally. These are, of course, the 3000ft mountains of England, Wales and Ireland, which, though few in number, merit inclusion in any list. The more active complete the round in a very short time, but most climb them by degrees when work and time permit. This often represents a lifetime’s quest.

This Munroist’s Log will enable you to record those precious moments seeking out an appointed cairn and, in time, will provide you with a personal reminder of joyous days of struggle in the company of friends, among the wonderful hills we have inherited.
